Aquarius age

The Age of Aquarius has its excessive source in what is called "precession of the equinoxes." The earth's attractive north pole draws a large circle in the sky over a time of approximately 26,000 years. This is the outcome of gravitational pull from the moon and the sun, resulting in a wobbling effect of the earth's alliance. As the circle of the "Great Year" is drawn in the sky, every 2166 years (approximately) the north pole points near a new sign in the zodiac. The exact moment at which this change occurs can be estimated within a century or so of exactness. The birth of Jesus was among the markers of the last alter of ages, from Aries to Pisces. Historically these changes have coincided with theatrical turns of human civilization. Markers of our current change to the Age of Aquarius are space travel and the paradigm-altering effects of our rapidly increasing technology.

Explanation of the meaning of the Age of Aquarius must be understood through both Aquarius (north pole) and the opposite sign of Leo (south pole). The sign of Aquarius is pro-egalitarianism. Taken to its severe political end, we would expand a totally classless society of beings. We have seen unfortunate results from political pains in that direction, such as loss of individual initiative and creativity. The poles must be balanced in such a way that our social systems worldwide are truly equal (Aquarian), while individuals are encouraged to add to society by recognition of their personal gifts. The mix of democracy and a capitalist economy can theoretically create this outcome, but person consciousness has not fully grown into the values needed to make it work. The good news is that we are just beginning this age of some 2100 years. Hopefully, we can find the truly functional combination between social equality and character creativity.

On my office wall I have a framed copy of the celebrated 1969 photo of the striking blue and white earth globe, suspended in the sky above the prospect of the moon. Those of us who are old sufficient, keep in mind spellbinding drama of watching televised images of our planet taken by the lunar astronauts. Never before had humans been distant enough from earth to see the beauty of our terrestrial home in the .huge ocean of outer space. It was the first moment of global awareness for many in the human family. Perspectives changed among the masses during that extraordinary week of viewing ourselves as we are seen by the cosmos.

Initial ladder in Astrology

Have you ever looked up at a clear night sky, felt the enchantment of so many flash bright stars, and wondered whether there is any special meaning in the patterns they make? People throughout history have looked up at the night sky and felt that it contained a fascinating secrecy. Long before man invented telescopes, or understood what the stars really are, he thought they were important to him in some way. He felt the stars were magical and so beautiful that they must have some special communication.

Man's interest about the stars was the beginning of the science of astrology. Archaeologists have establish records of the study of astrology in the ruins of almost every antique civilization, from Greece to Babylon, from China to Rome. It is the oldest science in the world.

Astrologers observed that most stars seemed to move round the sky together. But they also noticed that a small number of bright stars in the sky moved fairly independently of the rest. They called these moving stars "wanderers". Today we call them planets. Our own Earth is a planet, and each planet moves in a circle, called an orbit, round the Sun, which is a true star. The Sun and its family of planets make up our Solar System. The astrologers identified five "wanderers", and these planets are still known by their ancient names: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. These are the names of gods, which is what the ancient astrologers believed the planets to be. Three more planets have been discovered during the last two hundred years, to which modern astronomers have given the names of other ancient gods: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Some astronomers believe there is another planet in the Solar System still to be discovered.Apart from the stars and planets, astrologers also observed that the Moon moved across the sky. We have known for a long time now that this is because the Moon moves round the Earth in an orbit of its own. The Sun, too, seemed to move, rising in the east and setting in the west. In this case we know it is the Earth which really moves, making one complete turn in space, or revolution, every twenty-four hours. When a part of the Earth is facing the Sun it is day. When that same part is facing away from the Sun, it is night.

The astrologers wrote down all they knew about the movements of the Sun, Moon and planets. Today we continue this learn with big telescopes, which is the science of astronomy. Astrology was the real mother of recent astronomy.

Today, we distinguish between astronomy and astrology. While astronomers are interested in finding out scientific facts about the Solar System, modern astrologers continue to study the connection between the movements of the planets and people's lives. The early astrologers thought that the planets were gods who ruled people's lives. Modern astrologers no longer believe this, but they do still believe that in some attractive way there is a relationship between the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the lives of each one of us.
